In a drystack retaining wall, limestone dust is used to fill the voids behind the wall and inbetween the stone. When the dust gets wet it hardens and packs to help hold the stone in place.
In order to lay Natural Stone Retaining Walls, a block base and backing is needed, making this method slightly more expensive than Drystack. Natural Stone Retaining Walls are more stable though, making them more appropriate for planters and high retaining walls.
