Many buildings are built on sloping lots. As shown in the photo, these areas can be attractively handled by using masonry steps. The photo shows a sidewalk ending with four steps going down to a landing. The steps and landing are backed up with a retaining wall to allow for the irregularity of the ground. From the landing, four more steps go down to the lower level flagstone patio. The sawed sandstone step pads and retaining wall caps add a nice contrast to the natural fieldstone and flagstone.
